1. Where can I find Test Results on the Products?

Our product test reports can be found here.

  1. Do I really need more than 0.2 microns of filtration?

Filtering water is the act of moving water through a filtration medium to remove sediment and pathogens. In North America, two of the most dangerous pathogens found in drinking water are Giardia and Cryptosporidium. A proper filtration system should have pores small enough that these bacteria are removed from the water source. The Survivor Filter and Survivor Filter Pros both utilize Absolute Micron Triple Filtration Systems with the Survivor Filter filtering to 0.05 Microns thanks to: Mesh-Filter, Ultra Filter and Charcoal Filter and the Survivor Filter Pro filtering down to a Whopping 0.01 Microns thanks to: Cotton Filter, Ultra Filter and a Charcoal Filter. Anything lower than 0.07 Microns is plenty small enough to filter any bacteria from the water. Other filtration systems many have larger pores or rely primarily on charcoal to remove impurities. These systems may or may not remove all bacteria and water should be purified prior to consumption.

  1. How often do I need to replace the filters?

For filter replacement instructions please consult your manual. Under most conditions, the Survivor Filter and Survivor Filter PRO can effectively filter up to 100,000 liters (26,417 gallons) from most fresh water sources before cleaning or replacing of the filters is required. For the Survivor Filter, If the water source is particularly dirty or contaminated however, more frequent replacement of the carbon filter and cleaning/replacement of the Ultra Filter may be required in order to keep your Survivor Filter working properly. All replacement filters and components are available on our site and ship for free.

  1. I am having a hard time attaching a water bottle to the Survivor Filter, is it defective?

We hear this a lot, the problem is that you are likely using the wrong threaded bottle. The Survivor Filter takes a 28mm threaded plastic soda bottle like a 118ml soda pop bottle and not your standard water bottle. The reason it was designed this way is your standard 28mm threaded plastic soda bottle fits better with a precision device like your Survivor Filter as your standard water bottle threading was found to be flimsy and leaky when designing the product. If you have any more questions or issues, simply contact us and we will help you.

  1. The flow rate on my new Survivor Filter unit is slow on first time use, is this normal?

Sometime the Flow rate is restricted due to air pockets building up in the Ultra Filter before first time use. This is why we advise our customers to blow through the product first before using. If the problem persists, contact us right away and we will work with you to help you out or replace the Ultra Filter free of charge!

  1. How do I assemble and disassemble filter components for the Survior Filter and Survivor Filter PRO?

We also have it available on our Youtube playlist here. If you have misplaced your manual please send a request to the email listed on this site and we will send you a digital copy or a hard copy by mail if you request one.

  1. What should I use to clean my Survivor Filter and Survivor Filter PRO?

When cleaning your Survivor Filter, make sure to only use clean fresh water. The Ultra Filter (but NOT the Carbon filter) may be soaked in vinegar for 20 minutes for disinfection. Make sure to rinse with clean water and let air dry before storage. Please consult the manual for more information.
